We support the sport and racing systems that Australians care about.

Sport and racing are deeply embedded in Australia’s cultural and economic life, and Sportsbet is part of the system that helps fund and sustain them. Every bet placed with us generates taxes, fees and levies that flow to governments, sporting bodies and racing authorities. That revenue supports competition prize money, integrity frameworks, grassroots participation, and jobs – particularly in regional Australia where racing is a major contributor to local communities and the regional economy. We back long-term partnerships and initiatives that fund and sustain sport and racing and the people and communities around them. We see this as our responsibility as a market leader of a highly regulated industry. We believe the wagering system should be fair, well governed and deliver lasting benefits for sport and racing codes and the communities they support.

A material and ongoing economic contribution

Each year, Sportsbet contributes more than $3.5 billion to the Australian economy and pays approximately $1.1 billion in taxes, fees and levies. This includes Point of Consumption Tax and industry fees that are specifically designed to fund sport and racing. These contributions support the financial viability of professional competitions and racing codes, integrity systems that protect competition, and thousands of jobs across metropolitan, regional and rural Australia. Our economic activity directly supports more than 18,600 full-time equivalent jobs, many of which sit within the broader sport and racing ecosystem - from clubs and venues to trainers, officials, participants and suppliers.

Racing

Racing is a major employer and economic driver, particularly in regional Australia.

Racing partnerships

These partnerships are designed to support on-course engagement, regional employment and the ongoing viability of racing beyond marquee events. Sportsbet supports all three racing codes – thoroughbred, harness and greyhounds – through a combination of industry funding, partnerships and integrity contributions. Sportsbet is a long-term partner of key racing bodies and clubs across Australia, including:

Racing initiatives

Alongside commercial partnerships, we support racing-linked initiatives that contribute to the long-term health of the industry and communities:

MRC Foundation logo

MRC Foundation

Through our partnership with the Melbourne Racing Club, Sportsbet provides ongoing funding to the MRC Foundation, supporting community, participant and equine welfare initiatives linked to racing. As part of this partnership, we contribute $125,000 annually in untied funding, enabling the Foundation to support a range of programs across the racing industry and broader community. By allocating this funding through the Foundation, Sportsbet helps ensure investment is directed to areas of greatest need—from participant support and welfare to community-based initiatives—reinforcing the role racing plays in delivering positive outcomes beyond the track.

Cheer for Charity

Through our Cheer for Charity initiative, Sportsbet uses major racing events to deliver funding to community organisations, linking race-day performance to community outcomes. In 2026, we donated $283,000—our share of prize money from the Sandgroper and The Quokka—to the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services Association of Western Australia (VFRSAWA). By tying contributions to race results, Cheer for Charity provides a clear mechanism for turning participation in racing into community benefit. The initiative supports volunteer firefighters across regional Western Australia, while reinforcing the role racing plays in connecting and strengthening local communities.

Community Investment Through Racing

Through our Racing SA initiatives, Sportsbet uses race days as a practical way to deliver funding to local clubs, charities and community organisations, with a particular focus on regional South Australia. Working with race clubs, this support is directed through on-course activations and community initiatives that help ensure the benefits of racing extend beyond the track and into the communities that sustain the sport. In 2025, this approach delivered more than $178,000 in funding to over 110 community groups across South Australia.

Supporting Racing Growth in the Northern Territory

Through our partnership with Thoroughbred Racing Northern Territory (TRNT), Sportsbet supports initiatives that help grow and sustain racing in the Northern Territory. This includes backing the NT Newcomers Bonus, an incentive designed to attract new horses into the Territory and keep them racing locally. By supporting programs that build field sizes and participation, we help strengthen the competitiveness of NT racing and the ecosystem that supports it.

Sport

We support major Australian sporting codes.

We support major Australian sporting codes through partnerships and industry funding mechanisms that help strengthen their financial foundations and sustain competitions at scale. These partnerships support both men’s and women’s competitions, including AFLW and NRLW and are complemented by ongoing financial contributions that flow directly to the codes through industry funding arrangements.

Sporting partnerships

We are the Official Wagering Partner of Australia’s two most-watched sporting codes:

NRL Beanie For Brain Cancer

Sportsbet is a proud supporter of the Mark Hughes Foundation’s Beanie for Brain Cancer, one of Australia’s most recognised community‑led health campaigns. Since its launch in 2017, Beanie for Brain Cancer has sold over 1 million beanies and helped raise more than $25 million nationally to fund brain cancer research and increased patient support, including the brain cancer care nurses in regional Australia. Through our partnership with the NRL, Sportsbet donates $1,000 for each try scored during the NRL’s Beanie For Brain Cancer Round in June. Over the past nine years we've raised $603,000, which has helped to supply brain cancer support packs to more than 7,000 people.

NRL Try July initiative banner

NRL Try July

Through our Try July initiative, Sportsbet used its partnership with the NRL and NRLW to deliver funding to community causes, linking on‑field moments with direct charitable contributions. For every try celebration during the month, Sportsbet committed to donating $5,000 to a nominated charity, creating a simple and visible connection between the game and community impact. Across the life of the initiative, this approach delivered more than $1.4 million in funding, supporting organisations including the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation and a range of NRL and NRLW community causes. By connecting sport, fans and community outcomes in real time, Try July demonstrated how our partnerships deliver meaningful benefit beyond the field of play.
