Sportsbet Finals Day delivers for communities

17 Nov 2025

Community groups were the big winners at Morphettville on Sportsbet Finals Day with $100,000 shared among racing and sporting clubs as well as other community groups as part of Sportsbet's activations.

While heavy rain threatened to put a dampener on the event, thousands of racing fans still flocked to Morphettville to watch a quality day of racing and to take part in the Sportsbet Speedway activation. The Speedway competition took place as part of Sportsbet's long-term partnership with Racing South Australia and South Australian Jockey Club, adding vibrancy and excitement to the racing experience that culminated in a photo-finish win in the final race of the day for Ginger Sinner ridden by Cailtin Tootell. The win was Tootell's 100th for her career, winning her and trainer Paula Trenwirth the Riziz Series Final.

Club and charity representatives from metropolitan Adelaide and rural and regional South Australia converged to race remote control cars as part of Sportsbet's main activation.

The wet conditions were as testing for drivers as they were for the jockeys and horses on the day, but some skilled competitors pushed through the rain to bring home a windfall for their clubs.

The big winners from the city division included the Plympton Football Club and Padthaway Football Clubs who each took home $15,000, while others who boosted their coffers included the Onkaparinga Football Club ($10,000), Kingscote Football Club ($10,000), East Gambier Football Club ($5,000), Naracoorte Racing Club ($4,000) and MND SA ($5,000).

26 community groups and charities took part in the competition, with each taking home at least $1,000. One lucky customer will be investing in a new jet ski after he took home the $4,000 winner's cheque in the on-course punters race.

Sportsbet Chief Commercial Officer Nathan Arundell said the day was a success not only for South Australian racing but the wider community, highlighting the importance of ongoing commercial support for racing.

"We are proud of our partnerships with Racing SA, the South Australian Jockey Club and Country Racing South Australia and are thrilled to bring new fans to racing right across the state," Mr Arundell said.

"Corporate investment in on-course activations is about more than just entertainment. It's about enriching the race day experience for racegoers and connecting communities with their local clubs. Ultimately, racing's ability to bring people and communities together is what will ensure a strong and vibrant racing industry for generations to come.

"Having 17 of the 24 Country Racing South Australia clubs involved in today's on-track activation created a fantastic atmosphere and delivered the third-largest crowd at Morphettville this year despite the weather. This is a unique concept in Australian racing and is a clear sign that Sportsbet, the South Australian Jockey Club, Racing SA, and Country Racing SA are working together to grow and strengthen South Australian racing for the future.

"Sportsbet punters also embraced the finals concept, with Morphettville turnover and customer growth both in double digits on Saturday. 2025 has built a strong platform for an even bigger day in 2026, hopefully with some sunshine!"
